Our update preview stream goes live at 1pm EST. Follow Rustafied throughout the day.

The RUST Map Guide

After enjoying the extra Egg shaped loot for the past week, players say goodbye to the Rust Easter event with an optional patch going live later today. Note: this patch is apparently optional, which means some server owners could hypothetically leave Easter running for longer. That said, Rustafied servers will update shortly after the patch hits. You may have noticed a couple client updates hit earlier in the week.

Along with some fixes to teleport commands for admins, these updates patched, rolled back, then repatched some exploits. There are a bunch of changes and improvements hitting the farming2 branch lately. After going live earlier this month, the farming2 body of work is seeing some balance and additions. On the top of the list, Sprinklers are now much more efficient and the growth and yield genes are more effective. Along with improving the overall efficiency of this new system, the team is adding some helpful new items.

A Powered Water Purifier will allow for easy desalination of salt water. There is also a water pump being worked on which will source that precious liquid from fresh and saltwater sources.

More on this as the month progresses. A couple new items are on staging related to the new alarm system. The team has also made progress on the following projects:. Going live in an update today, the Rust Easter event first premiered last year includes egg hunts, bunny costumes, and more!

This event will not force a wipe and will run for one week. Our update stream will go live at 1pm EST to show off all the Easter goodness you can expect. Also, follow Rustafied for news throughout the day. As with last year, an Easter Egg hunt will begin every in-game day. For 3 minutes, every player on the server will be able to collect as many eggs as they can - with the top 3 winning special eggs as a reward.

So what do you do with all these eggs? Similar to the presents of the Xmas event in Rust, collectible eggs can be gathered, upgraded, and opened for prizes. Here is a rundown of the different types of eggs and what you can find in each. Upgrade to Silver Total Egg Cost Painted Eggs.

Want to be the top hare? Well make sure you have your bunny gear easily accessible for when egg hunts start. Arguably most important of said gear, the Egg Basket. This struct is created by the map method on Iterator. See its documentation for more. The map iterator implements DoubleEndedIteratormeaning that you can also map backwards:.

But if your closure has state, iterating backwards may act in a way you do not expect. Let's go through an example. First, in the forward direction:. Now consider this twist where we add a call to rev. This version will print 'c', 1'b', 2'a', 3. Note that the letters are reversed, but the values of the counter still go in order. This is because map is still being called lazily on each item, but we are popping items off the back of the vector now, instead of shifting them from the front.

Returns a copy of the value. Read more. Performs copy-assignment from source. Formats the value using the given formatter. Removes and returns an element from the end of the iterator. An iterator method that reduces the iterator's elements to a single, final value, starting from the back.

Returns the n th element from the end of the iterator.

Searches for an element of an iterator from the back that satisfies a predicate. Returns the exact number of times the iterator will iterate. Returns true if the iterator is empty. While ingame, press ESC pause menu. Enter the three numbers in the lower right corner here:. Skimming through this guide is recommended upon your first server startup to make sure everything goes smoothly. Most of the topics covered in this guide are tailored to our back end. Almost all of your questions can and will be answered by this guide. From information as basic as how to find your Steam ID and advanced as setting up Admin RCON tools, everything you will ever need to know about running a Rust Community server will be listed below.

Thank you!

There are a few bits of information which are essential to running a rust server. This section of the guide will teach you how to find this information.

We recommend saving this information somehow, either saving a text file to your computer or writing it down on a sticky note. This is a built-in functionality to keep your server safe from hackers and unhappy users. This way, they will not have RCON access, which is supposed to be a tool for you to run admin commands and manage your server while offline.

You can log in to our client area on our main webpage, and locate the server which you purchased. From there, click on "Game Services" on the left-hand side of the screen. Both ways work, but in regards to finding this information for multiple servers, personally, I recommend the latter as you will be within your server management panel quite often and it's best to familiarize yourself with that panel.

It's very simple and quick to find. First, go to your steam profile page and within the URL bar, copy your steam community profile URL, from there, insert it into the tool located here: steamid.

All of this information may be referenced by commands in other steam games as well so this is a useful link to bookmark. Rust allows you to either use a user's name or a SteamID to ban, kick, or modify user permissions. Permissions groups are further customizable with OxideMod Permissions.

Check out our guide on the subject, Oxide Permissions ! By the end of this section of the guide you will learn how to view your web console to troubleshoot startup issues, how to become an admin on your server, how to apply a steam update, and at the end, you will connect to your server for the first time.

This information is very valuable to a server admin as you will need to do all of these from time to time. Rust actively pushes updates and patches multiple times a month, it's important that you may be able to update your server on a whim to the latest client version.

Another very important thing to know is how to troubleshoot your server if something goes wrong. The best way to do this is to use the web console. Game Server Kings offers a web console client which shows the live command line of your Rust server. While the server is posting upon bootup or reboot, you'll be able to watch as it loads plugins, shows vital information about the server such as port binds, and connection status.

This may require a little bit of technical knowledge, but it's not difficult to figure out, and you should be able to catch on quickly. GameServerKings has been operating since the summer ofbecause of optimization steps we have taken since our debut, you will not need to troubleshoot issues after a fresh install of your server.

We do recommend that you run a steam update, but the only time an issue will arise is if you decide to install oxide mod or Rust:IO on your server and there's a user error within config files. Using our web client, issues like this will be very simple to troubleshoot. To access your web client, go to your server management panel and log in with your TCAdmin information provided to you by your verification email.

From there, go to your "Game Services" tab and click "web client. Once you've entered our web client, you will see what looks like a command prompt filling your browser window. Issues which are caused by syntax errors will be seen within this prompt. For example, if you install a plugin, change some config files, and then the game tells you that the plugin isn't installed, this is most likely because Rust did not load the plugin due to an error.Similar to other survival genre games, the RUST map can be massive.

There are many identifying objects on the map, some that are static and others that move in real time. With this knowledge in hand, you can begin to take advantage of the environments surroundings. It displays a detailed topological view of the game server.

The map can be accessed by all players, at any time, while connected to a RUST game server. The map is critical for communicating specific locations, areas of interest and target destinations. It can be used in building purpose-driven strategies for a wipe cycle or developing raiding tactics. While the RUST map has many different uses, it provides players who understand it many advantages.

This is the default key binding for the RUST map. Once the map is open, use the right mouse button to drag the map in the preferred direction.

The mouse wheel button is used to zoom in or out of the map. Scrolling up will zoom the map in, while scrolling down will zoom the map out. This can be used to focus in on a specific area, allowing for a more detailed view of the focused area.

RUST Streamer Mode Command (Stream Sniper)

In Devblog the RUST map was updated to include an optional static overlay grid and coordinate system. By default, the grid is disabled but can be turned on by clicking the Grid button. Each section of the grid measures meters in width by meters in length. The sections are lettered along the horizontal axis and numbered along the vertical axis.

These coordinates allow teams to call out more accurate locations than ever before. The focus button, also located in the top right of the map, will focus the map on to your current location.

When zoomed in or panned out of view of your location, the map will re-focus so that your position is centered on the map. There will be two configurations available on the far right of this option row that can be selected. The first configuration is the primary key, which defaults to the letter G. The second configuration is a secondary key and is empty by default.

Click on the configuration you wish to set, then press the corresponding button to be bound. On success, the selected button will be displayed for the primary or secondary configuration. The table below identifies many unique objects that are found on the RUST map. Having knowledge of these objects will help in mastering the harsh RUST environment. In previous versions of RUST it was required for players to craft a paper map first, then place it in their hot bar or right click on it while in the inventory to view it.

Players were required to explore the world while having a map in their inventory and then the map would keep a record of your travels and remove the fog of war.

The first version of RUST maps allowed players to draw on them. Losing a map at this time was serious business, as maps were often great sources of intelligence. Players would add data to the map, such as base locations, worthy targets or already raided targets.

Make sure to take cover before opening the map and always be aware of your surroundings. Avoid using the map when streaming or consider loading up a static map on a secondary monitor. When utilized, these tools can help guard against players trying to locate the specific server and player names that appear in a live stream. Like many online video games, RUST streamers also suffer from stream sniping. For the stream snipers, this provides them with extra information that the streamer does not have access to, in comparison to opposing players. Stream snipers can take advantage of the live stream intelligence and use it to gain the upper hand in combat situations, strategic planning, or use it to troll and harass the stream.

Some stream snipers go so far as to DDoS the player or their server. These anti-stream sniping tools were developed primarily for RUST players utilizing platforms such as Twitch. For RUST streamers in particular, it can be difficult to maintain and play RUST when streaming to a live audience filled with players gnawing to identify your server and location details.

This acts as a client setting, but can be interfaced through the console. When using the RUST streamer mode command, you do not need to be connected to a server, though it works when connected as well and only applies to your local client. Other players are not effected by your change. This command and setting are used to print the current value of the streamer mode to the console, as well as apply the setting on or off for your local RUST client, when passing the appropriate parameters.
